Notes:
- The year 2,000 U.S.
Census finds Sonoma County Hispanic population to be 17.3% of
total, Females 51% of total
- The 1998 national
average of female sworn officers on our nation's police forces
was 14%, Sonoma County average today is only 8% females, up only
three percentage points from five years ago.
- Santa Rosa Police
Department has never had a female in any position of rank, 12
female officers have left SRPD since 1996.
- White males make up
only 40% of Sonoma County's population, but overwhelmingly control
the county's police powers.
- District Attorney
Mike Mullins refused to answer a Public Record Act request to
give sex and race data on his deputies.
- Sources inside the
DA's office, however, say there has not been even one minority
race deputy district attorney in the last ten years.
